The Post led the Memorial Day parade for the 60th consecutive year. There was a ceremony at the bridge to honor sailors lost at sea. Then the parade continued on to the cemetery where the new Vietnam veterans memorial was dedicated. The flyover this year consisted of a Mitchell B-25 twin engine bomber, and a C-47 cargo plane, both restored and flown by the Yankee Air Force from Willow Run.
As of December 2008 the hall is receiving a face lift and new dance floor.

Church on the Street blessed 8 soldiers overseas with packed full gift boxes, 2 of the soldiers got blessed twice! You also provided a feast at the Linden VFW hall for local families of military people. The dinner was first class with roast beef, vegetables, salad and for desert cake and very nice pies that were donated by a very gracious family.
There were two articles written about the event in the Tri-County Times and we were even on the Channel 12 News. Click here to view the TV new report. "It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion; It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press; It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech; It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble; It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial; It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote; It is the VETERAN, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag." ~~ Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, Lt. Col. USMC ~~
